HYDRAULIC ATTACHMENTS FOR HANDLING FIBRE DRUMS
Fibrestar have linked up with local Hydraulic Attachment Manufacturer SMC Euroclamp to re-market Drum Handling Equipment.
Historically, it has been the ''Parrot Beak'' style lifting device that has been recommended & used for the handling of Fibre drums.
Now, with the help and support of SMC, Fibrestar have converted their customers to the many different methods of drum handling
from vertical lifting, sideways rotating, forward tipping or forward rotating.
Fibre Drums Inspire Change in Waste for Incineration
Background
Thousands of tonnes of hazardous and non-hazardous waste are sent for incineration within the UK each year. Fibrestar Drums identified that by introducing a fibre drum to the waste industry as a vessel for waste collection, shipment and disposal; we could deliver benefits to both the Waste Producer, through reduced waste disposal costs, and the Waste Handler, through faster incineration.
Challenges
The concept of introducing a “new” fibre drum to an industry that had a well-established record of using reconditioned steel drums was not an easy task. Fibrestar were faced with preconceptions that a fibre drum would simply not prove robust enough to work. There were concerns over the performance of a fibre drum when exposed to the UK’s infamous climate!
After some success at the Making Pharmaceuticals exhibition at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, Fibrestar are looking to press ahead with their efforts to ensure the message that the Fibre drum is the product of choice within the Pharmaceutical sector. Our Leverpak style drum is widely used currently with many household named Pharma companies. We are endeavouring to continue to accentuate the many benefits the Fibre drum has over it's more expensive and less sustainable rivals namely steel drums and plastic drums. We demonstrated a wide range of our products and the flexibility we have in terms of capacities to the delegates and this approach proved very promising. We look to build on this and continue our strategy of awareness and promotion wherever possible.
Fibrestar will be exhibiting at Making Pharmaceuticals 2017
Fibrestar are delighted to announce that we will be exhibiting at the Making Pharmaceuticals event at Richo Arena, Coventry, in April.
Making Pharmaceuticals runs from April 25th – 26th and is the only dedicated free to attend event in the UK that addresses the detailed and complex issues associated with sourcing, manufacturing, outsourcing and delivering of consistent pharmaceutical products to the market.
The event is the perfect opportunity for businesses to forge new partnerships, meet with new and existing clients and learn about the latest innovations, while showcasing new and existing products.
Located at Stand 326 we will be keen to demonstrate our range of Fibre Drums which can be used for transporting and carrying a range of materials while also being sustainable and environmentally friendly. It is the clear message of sustainable packaging that Fibrestar will be emphasising over the course of the event.
Fibrestar team up with Lancaster University for Innovation Challenge
Fibrestar recently invited students from Lancaster University Management School (LUMS) to their head office in Stockport as part of the Lancaster University Innovation & Entrepreneurship Student Challenge 2017.
The event highlights the strong links between Fibrestar and the university and not only encourages innovative solutions, but also gives degree students valuable experience when it comes to life in the workplace.
Part of the challenge was for students to come up with innovative and interesting uses for Fibrestar’s range of Fibre drums, which are used for transporting anything from hazardous chemicals to food products.
“The plan is to encourage the students to thinks of as many uses for the drums as possible,” explains Colin Pardoe, Managing Director at Fibrestar. “Obviously we know they have their uses for the transportation of liquids and substances but we want to encourage the students to think outside of the box, so to speak, and come up with some innovative uses for this strong, sturdy and environmentally friendly item.”
One of our most popular products is the 1,000 Litre Composite IBC, thanks, mostly, to its simplicity and versatility when it comes to transporting a wide range of materials across countries and continents.
The sheer beauty of the 1,000 Litre Composite IBC is its ability to do the basics, and do them well, thanks to its unique design that allows bulk transportation of anything from powdered food ingredients such as food syrups like corn syrup or molasses right through to bulk chemicals; including hazardous materials and dangerous goods.
Fibrestar are currently in the process of developing an environmentally friendly fibre drum specifically designed to carry liquids – a product which could revolutionise the way liquids are stored and transported.
The drum, complete with a bottom dispense facility, will be designed primarily for use in the food sector but not exclusively, such is its adaptability and versatility when it comes to carrying an array of liquids, either for storage or for transportation purposes.
The change from ISO 9001: 2008 to 2015 is widely recognised as a significant step forward by all progressive companies. Fibrestar is very proud to operate under ISO certification. The Quality Management System gives our organisation credibility, responsibility & reliability.
